Volunteers


  • Advisory Committee
    • The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to oversee the implementation of the OACJP. In addition, the Advisory Committee will provide guidance in the development and success of the OACJP.

    • The Advisory Committee will be comprised of Aboriginal persons who feel strongly towards community control over justice issues that affect our community. The Advisory Committee will uphold the Ontario Federation of Indian Friendship Centres Code of Ethics and be guided by the teachings of the Seven Grandfathers.

  • Healing Council Members
    • A brief overview of what volunteers in the OACJP do is as follows:
    • Roles and Responsibilities
    • •To assist in facilitating justice/healing circles.
    • •To assist in the development of Healing Plans.
    • •To assist in making recommendations to Advisory and Staff.
    • •The Council members will assist in the advocacy of OACJ programme services for its clients to communities in the Ottawa-Carleton Region of Eastern Ontario and surrounding communities
    • •To agree and sign an Oath of Confidentiality regarding client relationship, the Odawa Aboriginal Community Justice Programme and all other programmes within the Odawa Native Friendship Center.

  • Student Volunteers
    • OACJP is highly appreciative of the help that volunteers and placement students offer. In return, the volunteers and/or placement students can find a fulfilling program to dedicate their respective abilities to, and develop skills, not limited to:

    • Intake and assessment
    • Client rapport building
    • Time management
    • Administration
    • Documentation
    • Leadership
    • Crisis Management
    • Community development
    • Aboriginal cultural education
