He will also be accompanied by Joseph Sanchez. Joseph is part of the Indian Group of Seven that Daphne Odjig Potawatomi painter brought together In the 1973. She co-founded the Professional Native Indian Artists Association (colloquially called the "Indian Group of Seven"). This small group of native artists collaborated with and support one another. The group consisted of Daphne Odjig, Norval Morrisseau, Jackson Beardy, Carl Ray, Joseph Sanchez, Eddy Cobiness and Alex Janvier. The evening meal will be featured and prepared our very own Canadian Executive Chef Kurt Waldele from the National Arts Centre (NAC). Savour the award winning cuisine of Canada’s nationally renowned and Gold Medal winning NAC Executive Chef. A Silent Art Auction will be held during the evening, where you will have an opportunity to acquire fantastic Aboriginal Artwork. Jacob Wawatie, an Algonquin traditional teacher, artist and Elder, from Barriere Lake (Rapid Lake), will also honour us with a demonstration of his artwork. All proceeds from this event will go directly to addressing the needs of Odawa’s urban Aboriginal homelessness population. (Charitable Receipts will be issued upon request for donations to Odawa’s Homeless Programs) I encourage you to attend this great event, and invite anyone who may be interested in supporting and making a difference in addressing Ottawa’s Aboriginal homeless population. Many of Ottawa’s politician and media personalities will be in attendance. |
